An die Orient- und Indien-Erfahrenen:

Sollte man vorab in Deutschland Geld umtauschen? Oder reicht es aus, vor Ort was am Automaten zu ziehen?
Zahlt man am besten in Landeswährung oder in US-Dollar?

Für Indien kannst du hier kein Geld tauschen, außerdem sind dort zurzeit große Brageldproblrme. Ich würde US Dollar mitnehmen wenn ich vor hätte was zu kaufen. Ich gehe davon aus, dass man auch Taxi mit Dollar oder vlt sogar mit Kreditkarte bezahlen kann. Wir haben für Indien Ausflüge über AC gebucht, so dass wir da eigentlich kein Geld brauchen. Getränke kaufe ich am Automaten auf der Aura zum mitnehmen oder morgens vor den Restaurants.

Im Orient werden überall Kreditkarten akzeptiert.
Und da sollte es auch kein Problem sein, Bargeld am Automaten zu ziehen, sofern man alles lesen kann

Sucht ihr noch jemanden für magic mumbai? Habe gerade eine Mail von denen erhalten, dass nur noch eine Tour mit englischsprachigem Guide möglich wäre (ich weiß, ich bin viel zu spät dran ) und die Kosten sich momentan für uns alleine auf 7.500 Rupien p.P. pro Tag belaufen würden. Mit mehr Teilnehmern würde es ja weniger ...

Folgende Sehenswuerdigkeiten koennte ich Ihnen am ersten Januar zeigen und zwar :
1) Das "Gateway Of India " und das danebenstehende beruehmte Hotel " Taj Mahal" ( Spaziergang ).
2) Der Hauptbahnhof " Victoria Terminus" ( Neuer Name " Shivaji Terminus" ).: Fotostop oder Besuch je nach Ihrem
Wunsch.
3) Die grosse Markthalle " Crawford Market", besonders wenn Sie Gewuerze kaufen moechten.
4) Das beruehmte " Mahatma Gandhi Haus" ( Besuch. )
5) Den schoenen Hindu-Tempel vom Gott Krishna Besuch.).
6) Die sogenannten " Haengenden Gaerten"( Spaziergang ) und
7) Die groesste open-air, traditionelle Waescherei in Mumbai. ( von einer Bruecke anzuschauen.)
8 und 9) Das schoene Uni-Gebaude ( Mein Arbeitsplatz : Dort bin ich
Dozent und unterrichte Tourismus mit Fokus auf Indien ,aber in deutscher
Sprache.) Und das Museum : nur Fotostop.
Zum Essen und Einkaufen sollen wir aber doch etwas Zeit lassen.

Des weiteren zur Info falls jemand vor hat am 02.01.17 Elephanta eigenständig besuchen zu wollen, habe ich diese INfo erhalten:
Ueber Elefantamoeglichkeit.: Einige Tatsachen darueber : Die Insel
Elefanta ( so heist sie ) liegt ca. 09 Km von der Stadtmitte Gateway Of
India entfernt. Das Motorboot bis dahin braucht eine gute Stunde, Diese
Faehre kostet 180/- ind. Rupien p. P. Der alte Tempel dort steht auf
einem Huegel, man muss 120 Stufen steigen. Der Tempeleintritt ist
500/- indische Rupien pro Person. Der Tempel ist montags immer
geschlossen. Der zweite Januar 2017 ist Montag. An dem Tag habe ich
eine offiziele Fuehrung, leider. Ich werde Ihnen aber waerend unserer
Tour auch einen sehr schoenen Hindu-Tempel zeigen. Bei meiner
Privattour uebernehme ich die Bezahlung der Eintrittskarten fuer den
Bahnhof und Gandhi-Haus.

How the tour is run: Mangalore is a small port town, and there isn’t a big English-speaking tourism industry there. Full time professional guides are not available in this town. Karkala, Moodbidri, Local Bazaar and Farm Visit

In this tour we will go on a drive to Karkala and Moodabidri, two sleepy towns situated around an hour’s drive from Mangalore. The drive is interesting once you leave the port behind, and you will see many coconut trees, arecanut trees, etc.

Between the 14th and 16th centuries, this area near Mangalore became a great centre of learning and pilgrimage for members of the ancient Jain faith. In Karkala the giant statue of Gomateshwara attracts Jain pilgrims from far and wide. It is on top of a hill and provides panoramic views of the countryside. In Moodabidri, we will visit the famous 1000-pillared Jain Temple dedicated to Chandranatha. This is the largest Jain temple in coastal Karanataka, with richly carved pillars; and no two pillars in this temple are alike.

We will also visit the local bazaar at Moodbidri, which has visitors from the surrounding areas, buying fruits, vegetables, spices, clothes, food items and other items of daily use. It is a nice way to see daily life in this part of the country.

This area of Mangalore is known for its pineapples and other tropical fruits. We will visit a working fruit farm with a bamboo grove. We will walk through the farm, learn about the various spices, trees, fruits and other products grown at the farm. You can taste their famous pineapples if you wish, and take a restroom break. They also offer spices for sale if you would like to buy some.

Plan for the day:
·Pickup from docks at 9:00 a.m.
·Transfer to Karkala 1hr 15 mins, drive to the top of the hill to see the Jain Gomateshwara Statue and views of the green countryside
·11:00 to 11:20 transfer to Soans Farm, visit the farm
·12:00 am transfer to 1000-pillar temple (15 minutes), visit the temple and the local market at Moodbidri
·1:30 p.m. depart back to docks by 3:30 pm (you can bring sandwiches or snacks from the ship to eat on the ride back)

Notes: Please bring an extra pair of socks as shoes are not allowed in the temples, and the temple stone flooring can be hot in areas exposed to the sun. September is the tail end of the monsoon season, so hot stone floors may not be a big problem for you. However it may rain (although probably not much). Please wear sensible footwear accordingly. An umbrella would be useful protection from both sun and rain. Soans Farm has clean toilets. Please bring packed sandwiches and snacks from the ship to eat on the drive back.

Rs 13,500 using a Toyota Innova car (Max 4 Persons)
Rs 19,500 using Tempo Traveler (Max 8 persons)

Mangalore City Exploration

We will begin with a visit to Kadri Manjunatha Temple, which is more than 1000 years old. This temple, built in the 10th / 11^th century, has several sacred bathing tanks which people visit before praying. You can see the Mangalore-style tiled roofs and courtyards for an understanding of traditional temple architecture of the area.

Next, we will visit a grand modern temple in Kudroli dedicated to Gokarnatha, founded by the great social reformer Sri Narayana Guru, who rejected caste-based differences promoted the idea that all people are equal before God. The temple complex is large, showing diverse influences, with many interesting legends displayed. It includes a marriage hall.

After visiting these two temples, we will drive through the city centre, seeing the streets and daily life in the city. Our next stop is the Central Market wholesale bazaar, where agricultural produce (fruits and vegetables) from the surrounding countryside is brought each day for sale.

From the market, we will go to Saint Aloysius Chapel, which remains even today, a unique case of Italian art in India. Built by the Jesuits in 1890, the chapel was painted by the Italian Jesuit Antonio Moscheni, and attracts thousands of visitors every year.

For lunch we will visit a specialty restaurant to taste the famous Mangalore cuisine (you can have either seafood or meat-based or vegetarian lunch, depending on your preference). You can read more about the cuisine here.

After lunch, we will visit a cashew processing factory. India is one of the leading producers, processors and exporters of cashews in the world, accounting for 65% of the world’s exports.

Plan for the day:
·Pickup from docks at 9:00 a.m.
·Transfer to Mangalore 30 mins, visit Kadri Manjunatha and Kudroli Gokarnatha Temples
·11:30 to1 :00 Visit the Central Market wholesale bazaar for fruits and vegetables, and Aloysius Chapel
·1:00 to 2:00 Lunch at a specialty restaurant to taste the famous Mangalore cuisine (you can have either seafood or meat-based or vegetarian lunch, depending on your preference)
·2:00 to 3:00 - transfer to Cashew processing factory (30 mins), and tour of the cashew processig (30 mins)
·Drop to docks by 3:30 p.m.
·If you would also like to visit the flower market on Car Street, or the fish market, please let the guide know and they will add it to your tour.

wir haben 2 Touren in Mumbai geplant, am 1. und 2. Januar.

Vielleicht gibt es hier ja noch jemanden, der sich anschließen möchte.

Es ist laut Auskunft von Mumbai Magic so, daß sie keine Gruppen zusammenbringen, das muss man selbst machen.
Einer bucht die Tour und versucht dann z.B. hier über das Forum, weitere Personen zu finden, die mitmachen wollen.
Je mehr es werden, desto billiger ist der Preis pro Person.

Für die Tour am 1.1. sind wir bereits zu viert. Wenn ihr euch anschließen wollt, wäre das super.

Die Tour am 2.1. machen wir momentan nur zu zweit. Ihr seid hier herzlich willkommen

Early morning pick up at 7:30 am, visit Sassoon Dock, Flower market at Dadar, Kala Ghoda Art District, Bombay University, High Court, Oval Maidan, Marine Drive, Chowpatty Beach, Gandhi’s Home (Mani Bhavan), Dhobi Ghat, dabbawalas Crawford Market. There will be a break for lunch in between. Drop back by 3:30 pm.

- Cultured, highly qualified and knowledgeable lady guide. I have fourteen guides - they are no-nonsense women who know the city intimately, and like showing it to people. They speak English, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, French and Arabic. They each have 15-20 years experience in guiding, or more.

- Well researched and personalized tour itinerary that is fluid through the day to accommodate guest preferences.
- Shopping assistance (we have a list of recommended fixed price shops where the quality of goods is assured and guests are not subjected to haggling. Alternatively, we can take you to local bazaars to experience street shopping). There is no shopping on the tour unless you expressly ask for it; there is so much to see and experience that we prefer to focus on sightseeing. But please tell the guide if you want to buy something; they know the best places and can help you.
