Hilden Says Farewell to NCL
After 18 years career at Norwegian Cruise Line, Captain Mikael Hilden leaves the company. On the social media, he posted a photo handing over the keys of Norwegian Breakaway to the new captain Dan Svensson. However, his sea adventure will continue as captain for Viking Ocean Cruises which have launched their latest 47,800 tons cruise ship named Viking Sky.
Saying farewell to all NCL crew and guests on the social media he wrote “Handing over the keys to the new captain! Now when my new adventures begins, I thank you all, dear NCL friends and more, for the fantastic time I had. After 18 years it is not easy to leave, but with all the nice memories it will be easy to remember. Take good care, until our paths cross again. May all your landfalls be expected!”
What is the difference between god captain and great captain? It is a person not only with technical and nautical skills with perfect safety record, but also a person with a genuine approach towards his crew and guests. It is a father of all crew and exceptional host to all guests. It is simply someone who really cares. The comments written by the crew prove that Mr. Mikael Hilden was a true captain.
NCL crew member Admir Habibović, said “ the only captain for all these years who did not mind approach to me, as somebody way below his position to say 'thank you' for a job good done. Thank you for being a true example of what a leader should represent.”
Farhan Pawaskar, NCL Gift Shop Manager, said “Good luck Captain. Yourself & Captain Lars are one of the best captains I have met in the fleet. Three cheers to u both.”
Erica Tellez wrote, “Was an honor and pleasure working with such a great leader, and gentlemen.”
